The heart first
Umrah is not a holiday package. Making amends, simplifying debts, increasing istighfar and keeping salawat on the tongue come before choosing a suitcase. Guests who find Qur’an recitation weak are given a short path by the seminar teacher; embarrassment is not a stop.
We do not impose extra prayers — duha, awwabin, tasbih — on anyone. A steady wird is better than three PDFs opened in an aeroplane seat. Talking through how the house will run in your absence is also preparation. An uneasy home behind you scatters the mind in the Haram.
The name Surre carries a sense of trust. You also leave a trust with those close to you: a prayer list, a number to call, medicine times if needed. Writing these down does not shrink the spiritual side.
Then body and rhythm
Hajj is called arduous; Umrah too asks walking, heat and crowds. A visit to the family doctor, extra blood-pressure or diabetes medicine, and asking us whether a meningitis card is required this season is enough. A blog does not memorise current health rules.
Being at the airport hours before the flight, never packing the passport or Umrah card in the hold bag, writing a name on the suitcase — these are repeated because they work. An ihram belt, simple sandals, unscented soap and a light layer find a place in most bags. A race for souvenirs steals time from worship.
Why the seminar exists
The crush of tawaf frightens first-timers. In the seminar the sentence of intention, the miqat, the direction of tawaf and the walk of sa’y are shown once, slowly. If questions end there, the teacher’s hand is freer in the Haram.
The seminar date is set for each group. Those who cannot attend receive a short catch-up by phone or a brief meeting. Some say the booklet is enough; reading helps, asking helps more.
Document items (passport validity, photographs, a copy of ID) live in a separate article. We refresh the list at +90 531 929 16 34. The rest of preparation is not haste. It is a calm order.
