Places to visit in Madinah

The Prophet’s Mosque, the Rawdah, al-Baqi’, Uhud, Quba and Qiblatayn. Days in Madinah are built without hurry.

Is the Prophet’s Mosque enough?

It is enough, and it is the origin. The mosque of the Prophet (peace be upon him), the Rawdah and the greeting: this is the heart of Madinah. Other stops are rings around that heart. If the hotel is within walking distance, night prayer becomes easier. A farther hotel follows the teacher’s transfer plan.

An appointment for the Rawdah (the green carpet) is, in most seasons, taken through the Nusuk app. We have stood calmly on that in a separate article. A slot does not appear for everyone at every hour; hope and manners walk together.

Cemetery and Uhud

Jannat al-Baqi’. South-east of the Prophet’s Mosque, the cemetery of many of the Companions and the household. Visiting hours and entry for women follow the season’s rule. No raised voices, selfies or unauthorised broadcasts.

Uhud. North of Madinah, the martyrs’ field and the mountain line. The sira becomes concrete here. Heat and open ground ask for water, head covering and shade for the elderly. Climbing the mountain is not required.

Mosques

Quba. The first mosque of the Hijrah. One stops to pray; that is better than a hurried photo.

Qiblatayn. The memory of the qibla turning from Jerusalem to the Kaaba. A short visit, a short explanation.

The Friday mosque. The memory of the first Friday on the road of Hijrah. The group coach often takes it in the same ring as Quba.

Dhul Hulayfah (miqat). The ihram point for those going from Madinah to Makkah. Groups on that transfer put on ihram here or at the hotel, in the order the teacher gives.

Farther stops

Badr asks a separate day in distance; it does not squeeze into every Umrah package. Musalla and memories of Eid prayer may be short stops the teacher explains according to the city.

If shopping in Madinah ends at dates and prayer beads, the heart is lighter; bargaining should not break the manners of the Haram.
